These Brian Dettmer Book Sculptures are absolutely mind boggling. Moving onto bigger and better things, this Chicago-born, Atlanta-based artist has replaced his cassette tape art with a more novel adventure (pun intended).
Taking old hardcover texts that include everything from novels to dictionaries and science books, Brian Dettmer creates these insanely impressive, intricate book culptures by hand.
Having studied at Colombia College, Dettmer's work has now been exhibited around the world, including the United States, Mexico and Europe. He is currently represented by Kinz + Tillou Fine Art in New York, Packer Schopf in Chicago, MiTO Gallery in Barcelona, Toomey Tourell in San Francisco and Saltworks in Atlanta.
