Aesthetically speaking, there are several things happening in the extravagant Boca do Lobo Diamond Sideboard that manifest as an overlap between an elaborate historical style and an abstract modern one. The functional piece of furniture has been given a complex sculptural treatment in order to make its form alone a major source of its appeal.
It is as if the solid oak wood piece began as a stiff rectangular prism, only to be somehow contorted by an impossible process of folding and creasing. The result is a surface of uneven triangular planes that connect to create complete enclosures for the storage of one's domestic possessions.
Marco Costa's design of the Boca do Lobo Diamond Sideboard is further accented with four gilded Gothic claw feet, a gold-lined interior and a coat of vivid amethyst or emerald lacquer.
