Bloomington Transit is set to roll out a new fare collection system on November 18. The system will leverage the Umo mobile app and reloadable cards to provide a more convenient and efficient payment experience for riders. As part of the transition, customers can use the Umo app or obtain a reloadable card at Bloomington Transit offices or the downtown transfer center to pay fares on all buses and micro transit services. Riders will also have the option to pay with cash, provided the exact amount is available.
“This fare collection technology project with Umo enhances the customer experience for Bloomington Transit riders,” said Bloomington Transit General Manager John Connell. “But more importantly, it provides equity by allowing those who are not able to buy a discounted monthly pass upfront to receive the same benefits as those who can. Using Umo protects our riders from overpaying in the long run.”
