Amy Duong — October 30, 2024 — Art & Design
Danish architecture studio BIG has just completed the special BIG HQ building for itself. The headquarters is defined by its concrete construction along the industrial harbor in Copenhagen. The building is right along the pier in the city's Nordhavn neighborhood and it is wrapped with a dynamic staircase that connects all of the seven floors.
Other details include the expansive glazed openings which are arranged in a checkerboard patterning and it is all made from Uni-Green concrete, which is a material by the studio with Unicon. Founder of BIG, Bjarke Ingels shares, "The idea behind LEAPP is an architecture practice as a renaissance, interdisciplinary body of people and knowledge. Every single aspect of LEAPP has been involved in our HQ, including the planning, the product design, and the very complex stacking of the concrete elements."
