Cummins Inc. -- the global power leader -- recently joined forces with ElDorado National (California), Inc. -- a subsidiary of REV Group that manufactures low floor and standard floor buses -- to launch the ENC’s Axess Battery Electric Bus. As both businesses areas are leaders in heavy-duty transit buses and emissions-free technology, the new partnership was put in place to develop a new battery-electric bus solution.
Axess, ENC's existing bus, is now available as a Battery Electric Bus (BEB), incorporating Cummins' battery-electric system into the company's heavy-duty, low-floor platform. Cummins' battery-electric system, with a battery capacity of up to 518 kWh, will power the ENC 40-foot, low-floor platform bus built in California. The bus is equipped with DC rapid charging capabilities to meet the stringent charging requirements on the route. Furthermore, transit authorities will be able to promptly examine maintenance notifications on the bus via the Cummins telematics system. Cummins' nationwide service network will support the battery-electric system.
“ENC is pleased to partner with Cummins and add a BEB option into our fleet offerings,” said Jason Moore, Vice President and General Manager, ENC. “Together, we can support communities as we bring these sustainable zero-emission solutions into their daily lives.”
