Japanese plumbing and tile brand LIXIL Corporation has launched Bathtrope -- this is a bathroom space defined by its removable bathtub. To make this possible, the bathtub is made from fabric materials which can be filled with hot or cold water and function as a bathtub.
When it is no longer in use, the tub can be folded up and hung in a space that then becomes a shower space instead. The Bathtrope is crafted from a single sheet of fabric and the design is inspired by the kimono and origami practices. The team uses one cut to ensure that the risk of water leaks is reduced and to set up the bathtub, users are to attach hooks onto the wall to suspend the cloth form and adjust the size.
