Although the lights in the Balloons Collection don't happen to look a whole lot like balloons, there is a sense of lightness to them that does bring these inflatable spheres to mind. It is this interpretative nature of the Balloons Collection that makes it more versatile than the Balloon X LAMP, which actually looks like real balloons.
Designed by Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova for the Czech Republic-based manufacturer BROKIS, the Balloons Collection is quite modern in a subtly whimsical way. The red dish inserted within the simple glass cover and the artistic mess of cords beneath it gives each piece that contemporary, quirky character that many designers have been going for as of late.
Interestingly, the designers describe the Balloons Collection as "based on an idea of ‘invisible’ volume with a floating reflector. There and not there, seen and unseen, creating an ambient and artistic object."
