On display at CES 2015, the Audi smartwatch allows you to communicate with your car. Led by Audi board member Professor Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, the team announced the wearable at the international consumer electronics show.
The Audi smartwatch specifically talks to their A7 prototype, a self-driving piloted model. All of the features have yet to be determined, but one of them will enable the wearer to unlock the car. The use of NFC technology (near field communication) means the device will still function even if the battery is dead and you won't find yourself locked out of your car for that very reason.
The mobile key is an exciting and unexpected move from the automotive company.
