Berlin-based Artist Monika Gryzmala creates violent site-specific installations, using the unorthodox artistic material of black electrical tape. With each of her installations, Gryzmala is able to convey intense emotion and imitate the fluid movement and motions of an explosion. Her pieces have black tape splattered and spluttering wildly all over the walls. These dramatic installations are so realistic it as though someone has taken a freeze-frame of an occurring explosion.
This dramatic tape installation was created at the Sumarria Lunn gallery, but Gryzmala's works have also been constructed at the Drawing Room in London, at MoMa in New York and the Tokyo Art Museum.
With dramatically intricate details, which allow the viewers to interactive with these artistic surroundings, these illustrations are proof that any material can create art, all one needs is an open mind.
