Cassina Relaunched Bodil Kjær's Relaxation-Focused Chair
Elena Rahman — September 28, 2021 — Art & Design
Architect Bodil Kjær's chair design from the 1950s is making a timely come-back. Cassina reissued and adapted the Danish designer's chair to provide the perfect perch to unwind after a long day. Dubbed the High Back Chair, the architect initially created the piece of furniture to help young people relax after sitting in stiff office furniture all day.
Cassina decided to reintroduce the armless chair into its range. The brand has also included a version of the High Back Chair with arms to facilitate reading in comfortable positions. Consumers can purchase the revamped design in a range of colors and wooden finishes. Additionally, its padded seat and backrest are made from recycled polyurethane foam. Customers can opt to cover the foam in leather or textile.
