Apple Debuts its Next-Generation Apple Watch Series 8 with New Features
Apple has announced its newest wearable Apple Watch is the Apple Watch Series 8, an updated version of the previous models that includes a new temperature sensor. The brand new feature is said to “tak[e] its commitment to women’s health even further,” and is able to track temperature changes as slight as 0.1 degrees Celsius.
Apple claims that tracking your body temperature overnight can provide insights into ovulation cycles. The company advises that all of this data is encrypted on the watch itself. The Series 8 also boasts two new motion sensors to detect whether the wearer has been in a car crash.
The crash detection feature only works when the user is actively driving, which helps preserve battery life. The new Series 8 also comes with a new low-power mode that extends its battery life to 36 hours, up from 18.
