Apple has introduced its latest iterations of the iPad Pro, available in 11-inch and 13-inch models, both equipped with the new M4 chip. This chip marks a significant advancement in Apple’s silicon technology, featuring a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, which Apple claims offer up to 50% faster CPU performance compared to the M2 chip. The M4 also includes a 16-core Neural Processing Unit (NPU), capable of 38 trillion operations per second, positioning it as a leader in AI processing power among contemporary PCs.
Both models boast OLED displays, a first for iPad Pros outside of the iPhone and Apple Watch, promising richer colors and deeper contrasts. The new “tandem” OLED technology, branded as Ultra Display XDR, delivers 1,000 nits of HDR brightness and 1,500 nits of peak brightness. These enhancements come in a thinner and lighter design, with the 11-inch model measuring 5.3mm in thickness and the 13-inch model at 5.1mm, making the latter the thinnest device Apple has ever created.
In terms of pricing and availability, the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $999, with the cellular model priced at $1,199. The larger 13-inch version begins at $1,299, with its cellular variant costing $1,499. Apple has also introduced a new Magic Keyboard, priced at $299 for the 11-inch and $349 for the 13-inch model, which aims to enhance the iPad Pro’s laptop-like capabilities. Additionally, a new Pencil Pro is available for $129, featuring squeeze and rolling capabilities along with haptic feedback. Customers can pre-order both sizes of the iPad Pro, with availability set to begin from May 15. The base storage for both models is now 256GB, reflecting a commitment to providing substantial storage capacity for professional and personal use.
