The creative artist duo Fantich&Young, whose works tackle “parallels between social evolution and evolution in the natural world,” according to its site, created the Apex Predator clothing series featuring the Apex Predator Suit, Apex Predator Oxfords Shoes and the Apex Predator Empire Shoes. All of the clothing items are made entirely out of human body parts.
The Apex Predator Suit is covered with human hair and has glass eyes and small bones used as buttons. The Empire Shoes have 500 teeth in them, while the Saville Row Oxford shoes have 1,050 dentures on them. Mariana Fantich and Dominic Young give the consistent and simple explanation of their work as follows: “Apex predators are predators with no predators of their own, residing at the top of their food chain.”
The artists have attempted to dress the ultimate predators with their own kind. As bizarre as the sensation of walking on teeth would presumably be, the entirety of the work is thoroughly thought provoking -- a potent and perplexing exhibition of power.
