Amazon's New Amp App Lets Users Become At-Home Radio DJs
Niko Pajkovic — March 8, 2022 — Business
Amazon has officially launched Amp, a new music-focused app that arrives as a direct competitor to Clubhouse. However, the new app will be less focused on audio chatting and more on listening to music.
Through the app, users will be able to set up their own live shows, with the ability to stream “tens of millions of licensed songs.” In a nutshell, the concept for Amp was to create a platform that allows users to become at-home radio DJs, able to program playlists, engage with listeners, and chat with call-in guests. Best of all, listeners and hosts will not need to subscribe to any service to use Amp as the platform is entirely free.
Unlike Clubhouse or Twitter Spaces, Amazon is promoting the new platform as more of a radio-style service than a live audio chat platform; however, the two apps share many elements and features.
