E-commerce giant Amazon has announced the launch of an all-new e-cargo delivery service in London, England, that has been implemented to replace the use of vans for product deliveries. The new micro-mobility solution belongs to the company's broader initiative to deliver over 5 million packages in East London using plant-friendly transportation methods.
More specially, Amazon will be using e-cargo bikes for last mile" deliveries -- i.e. the final stage of a delivery process when a package is moved from the delivery hub to the customer's home. The new initiative aligns Amazon with other brands, such as Fed-Ex, Ocado Zoom, and Hermes, that have implemented the use of e-cargo bikes in their delivery schemes. The new carbon-reducing solution is expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks.
