This sustainable alternative to cement is an eco-friendly building material that is cheaper, stronger and quicker to put down. Cortex Composites created a cement alternative that comes in water-activated rollable sheets. This also addresses the hefty expense of running cement trucks, as this product is much easier to transport.
The patented Cortex is composed of four layers, one of which is water soluble and keeps everything in place during the installation process. The other three layers are cement mix, a 3D matting framework and a water-proof membrane. This combination makes Cortex two times stronger than normal concrete. After it's been rolled out, water is added to the alternative to cement, turning it into a gel that sets everything.
