The New Alfred DB2S is a Wirelessly Powered Deadbolt Lock
The new Alfred DB2S is the first-ever DIY-installable deadbolt smart lock that is able to charge through infrared power transmission. The company notes that it will be available for the price of $299 at Lowe's, Home Depot, and other retailers beginning sometime in the second quarter of 2023.
The charging kit is made up of a replacement backplate for the lock complete with a Wi-Charge receiver that is built into the device. It also has a transmitter that needs continuous power and a line-of-site towards the lock. The aforementioned infrared energy helps with safely transmitting power within a distance of up to 30 feet. This also allows it to power multiple devices at once and the device is notably FDA-approved.
