Beginning in early 2023, customers of Aldi will be able to order recycling bags from the Podback website, fill them up, and bring them to one of the 6,500 Collect-plus drop-off locations, or, if they reside in a participating local authority area, register for curbside pickup. This will encourage consumers to recycle things like used coffee, tea, and hot chocolate pods in a more sustainable fashion. As the first coffee pod recycling service of its sort in the UK, Podback was introduced last year.
“We’re pleased to be joining Podback on this journey – especially as the first supermarket member. It’s important to us that we help customers do the right thing once our hot drink pods have been used, and we look forward to seeing how our partnership with Podback progresses,” said Richard Gorman, plastics and packaging director at Aldi.
