The NBA and Microsoft will collaborate to provide an AI-powered game experience that viewers will be able to personalize, and the project will also expand to the WNBA, and the G League. Additionally, the new partnership has given Microsoft the title ‘Official Artificial Intelligence Partner’ for the NBA, and the project will debut during the 2020-2021 season.
Viewers will have the ability to access live and on-demand games through the Microsoft Azure platform and users will also be able to add overlays to the broadcast. Game clips can also be shared, and viewers will be eligible for different rewards.
Adam Silver, the NBA Commissioner, made a statement about the collaboration with Microsoft, “Our goal, working with Microsoft, is to create customized content that allows fans — whether they are in an NBA arena or watching from anywhere around the world — to immerse themselves in all aspects of the game and engage directly with our teams and players."
