ABIC (Anti-Bacterial Ceramics) was designed by the Spanish brand Vives. The new ceramic product provides tiles with permanent hygienic protection. With the last year and a half of the pandemic, many companies looked to science to create zones of decreased contamination, hoping to reduce the risk of contracting the virus.
Vives' approach to hygiene is through a bacteria-eliminating ceramic for tiles. ABIC is an anti-bacterial finish integrated into the tile production process, creating a permanent effect. It works by releasing silver ions to sanitize the tile's surface regularly. ABIC is available on all tiles in the brand's Pangea range, including the Nuez color. Vives claims that the tile product is 99.99 percent effective in preventing bacterial growth.
