The Splinter is a high-performance wooden car that is made out of an incredible 275 unique pieces of wood. This is a serious high-performance vehicle designed by a team led by North Carolina industrial Joe Harmon, which worked hard at the project for five years.
This vehicle is powered by a Chevrolet LS7 engine that produces an incredible 700 horsepower. It is further equipped with a six-speed manual transmission that offers maximum control, and zooms along on Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires.
The use of wood makes for a better strength-to-weight ratio compared to typical automotive ratio than typical automotive materials such as aluminum and steel. That being the case the Splinter goes to show that it is indeed possible to use unconventional materials in auto design.
