Last month, I had the opportunity to travel to Paris with Huawei for the launch of its newest line of mobile products. The event featured Huawei’s latest update to the P mobile series, with the P30 and P30 Pro both featured. In addition to the mobile series, the product launch showcased some really interesting technology updates, including the new wireless earbuds and smartwatch. The presentation also featured Huawei’s recent take on Smart Eyewear in collaboration with Gentle Monster, an innovative Korean eyewear brand. With the launch of all these products, the event was a ton of fun and gave us the chance to check them out for ourselves.
After the launch of the products, I had the chance to play around with the new P30 Pro, which enabled me to get some amazing shots of my time in Paris. I was really excited for this since I had arrived a few days early and was stuck taking low-quality photos of the beautiful city on my former phone. I can’t begin to express how disappointed I was when I saw that my selfie with the Eiffel Tower at night only showed my face and a few floating bulbs of light.
In the initial hours of having the P30 Pro, I walked around the city and took all the shots I could to get a feel of the different features. To my surprise, the camera settings were easy to use and made it lot of fun to shoot with. My next few selfies were definitely better, some would even call them “Instagram worthy."
Following the day of the presentation, the Huawei team set up a series of walking tours for us. The tours were incredibly interesting and I was happy see other areas of the city and get a better idea of what it's like to be a local. During these tours, a member of the Huawei team helped us play around with the new phones. It was really neat to see all of the advanced features, and the phone was a lot easier to use than my not-so-friendly DLSR. One of my favorite captures was at night of the Tuileries Garden and Le Louvre. The low light detail was incredible and to my delight, made me feel like a pro photographer.
By the end of the trip, I was capturing a few hundred shots a day with the new phone, something I definitely wouldn’t have done with my previous phone or clunky camera. The ease of shooting and professional capabilities really elevated my overall experience of what it means to use a camera phone. It really brought me back to my first camera phone, and how amazed I was of what it could accomplish at the time. I’m glad I was able to join the Huawei team on this trip and experience the launch of something truly innovative and inspiring.
