Kennon Designs the 550 Spencer Office Building in Australia
Amy Duong — January 9, 2025 — Art & Design
Architecture firm Kennon has completed the design of the 550 Spencer office building located in Australia. It is the first in the country to be powered on-site by a solar facade system. The building is highlighted by the glass facades which are applied in a pleated application resting on top of a brick base foundation as a means to be more energy efficient and sustainable. There are 1,182 solar panels integrated by the team at Kennon.
The studio speaks about the design process to Dezeen, "550 Spencer is the first building in the country to use its façade as a system for capturing on-site solar energy. By harnessing the power of sunlight, this development challenges traditional approaches to energy use, offering a glimpse of sustainable architecture where innovation and aesthetics can coexisting and unite."
