Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its '2023 Sprinter' series of passenger vans set to release to the United States market. The previous lines of Sprinter vans from Mercedes-Benz were only released in Europe, so this marks the North American debut for the vans. The 2023 Sprinter series boasts a 9-speed automatic transmission, which is up from the 7-speed used in the brand's previous Sprinter collections.
In addition to the transmission, these vans feature an upgraded all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and an upgraded powertrain. The AWD system allows the van to automatically distribute torque to the axle that requires the most torque at any given time. Despite these upgrades, the Mercedes-Benz 2023 Sprinter lineup will only have four-cylinder engines, whereas the automaker's previous lines featured six-cylinder engines.
