From Masculine Kilts to Plaid Loincloths
Andrew Sztein — March 20, 2013 — Fashion
Ever since I saw the movie 'Braveheart' in middle school, I've been fascinated by the idea of the Scottish kilt. Despite the long held stereotype that skirts are solely for women, I would dare you to tell any Scottish highlander that the Scottish kilt he's wearing is meant for the opposite gender. See how well that goes over for you.
As it turns out, the Scottish kilt as a fashion statement is back in a big way. If you're a man and you're self-conscious about wearing a plaid skirt, there are other ways to go Scottish with your wardrobe, for either gender. From dapper Scottish satchels to plaid tartan pumps and highlander-inspired bow ties, there's an option out there for anyone looking to go Scottish. If you do decide to go with the full out kilt garb, the only decision you have to make is whether to go full Scottish with no undergarments, like a true Scotsman.
