Nicholas Kirkwood is a master of invention. The 31-year-old German shoe designer has created footwear for high end designers like Ghost, John Rocha, Erdem, Rodarte and Pollini. He was a finalist for the inaugural BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund Award in 2010, and currently resides in London, England.
Nicholas Kirkwood does not design your typical, office-appropriate pumps. He is known for his inventive uses of fabrics like devoré satin, hand-printed suede and leather, degradé fabrics, python, shaved stingray, laser-cut mirror leather, cobra and rubberized leather.
In 2005, Kirkwood released his first footwear collection, which ended up earning him the Condé Nast Footwear News Vivan Infantino award in 2006 for emerging talent.
