45 years ago, John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and hundreds of spectators flock to Dealey Plaza on this day to honor the memory of the beloved former president. These widespread public memorials are expected for such prominent public figures.
Not all of the dearly departed receive the John F. Kennedy memorial treatment, however. Some choose to cart their ashes off into space to be scattered into orbit, while others would prefer to have a lighthearted funeral featuring scantily-clad cheerleaders. From cemeteries devoted especially to pets to bizarre and unusual gravestones, our attitudes towards death and preserving our loved ones' memories couldn't be more diverse.
