From Billboard Placemats to DIY Stained Art
Michael Hines — April 12, 2011 — Art & Design
Sexy is being brought back to the kitchen in the form of this top list, filled with inspired placemat innovations. Despite their usefulness, placemats are often the most underutilized pieces of kitchenware. I am here to shine the spotlight back on the noble placemat and prove that it is more than just a special-use item and occasional coloring book.
The placemat revolution starts now with these inspired placemat innovations. Each of these designs brings something new and functional to the table (pun intended). Upcycled billboard placemats save the Earth while looking cool at the same time, while pop-up placemats feature chairs and tables that pop-up on command. If that isn't enough to convince you to pull the placemats out of the attic, I don't know what is.
