From Social-Powered Casts to Snowboarding Wrist Wraps

With all of the advances in medical technology, you've got to wonder why at least one or two of these future-forward cast designs aren't more ubiquitous. Broken bones are healed now the same way they were years ago: by being set in a plaster cast. However, many of the casts featured here propose entirely new ways to heal broken bones.
These future-forward cast designs feature casts that heal bones using vibrations, along with casts that let your doctor monitor your healing from afar. There's even a social cast that allows your friends to send you a get well soon card, a message that is displayed on the cast's e-ink display. While technology has yet to penetrate the world of the common cast, the days of using giant plaster molds to heal bones appear to be at an end.
