From MacBook Look-A-Likes to Designer Clones

Examples of copycat culture are running rampant in today's society. Brands who have made their names on specific signatures are now being challenged by rivals who are mimicking their claims to fame.
Major players in the tech industry such as Apple are engaged in an uphill battle to protect their iconic minimalist designs. For example, the BulletTrain Express Keyboard looks suspiciously like the keyboard of a MacBook PRO and there are a variety of touchscreen phones being offered that look like cousins of the iPhone.
Even Harry Potter hasn't escaped the copycat culture craze as there is a Bollywood version that blatantly borrowed story lines from the popular book and movie series.
Is copying the sincerest form of flattery? I'm sure those brands loosing out on profits due to this cultural movement don't think so.
