Collaborating with Bairds Malt and Scotgrain, Chivas Brothers has embarked on a groundbreaking sustainable agriculture program. This program aligns with the collective goal of empowering Scottish farmers to significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with the barley-growing industry.
Kicking off as a pilot project, the program will engage eight carefully selected farmers over three to five years. These farmers, collectively called the Dalmunach Growers Pilot Group, have enthusiastically volunteered to participate in on-farm trials.
The primary objective of these trials is to take a holistic approach to farming sustainability. To do so, the company focuses on enhancing soil health through innovative cultivation techniques, fostering biodiversity through strategic land management, and implementing practices that lead to measurable reductions in carbon emissions throughout the barley-growing process.
