Privacy-first search engine You.com has announced the launch of YouWrite, an all-new writing assistant tool that is powered by artificial intelligence. Developed in partnership with OpenAI, the new tool is able to automatically write content from scratch, whether these are small blurbs or complete documents.
Described by the company as a "personal AI writer," the new tool utilizes Open AI's powerful GPT-3 AI language system, which on its own is able to produce human-like writing in the form of emails, recipes, short stories, and even poetry. What's more, YouWrite is built directly into the You.com search engine. To use the technology, searchers simply need to select the tool from the search engine's magnifying glass icon and then input information regarding their writing topic, its audience, tone, and content. For example, users can request that YouWrite generate an entire five-paragraph essay on the American Civil War.
"We want to, basically, create this AI-powered writing system to help people be more productive, but also being controlled — you can decide what it should write," said Richard Socher, co-founder of You.com. "We want to put people into control of the AI to make them more efficient."
