The Yerka Project is an endeavor by three individuals from Chile, who aim to take the incentive away from thieves to steal bikes. Their answer is to include the lock in the frame itself, so that the only way to take a bike would be to damage it first, making it far less appealing to take in the first place.
This project will help a number of avid bikers who constantly worry about whether or not their bike will be safe when left in certain areas. Locks are cut on bikes numerous times daily, but if the bike is scuffed up in the process, then the likelihood of this would go down immensely, which is an appealing prospect.
