Eddie Huang and adidas Launch a Year of the Panda Ultra Boost Sneaker

New York City-based chef, restaurant owner, and television personality Eddie Huang introduces his own iteration of the adidas Ultra Boost sneakers entitled 'Year of the Panda.' It celebrates the Lunar New Year on February 5th and it is adorned in celebratory hues of red and gold. The two colors are important to the culture as it represents wealth, prosperity, and good fortune.

The sneakers take on the 1.0 Primknit material throughout the uppers with a leather mudguard that wraps around the toe box area. There are additional leather touches across the cage and heel cup to contrast against the knit material and add a luxe feel. Huang explains that "as an Overseas Taiwanese-Chinese, my favorite part of Chinese New Year has always been introducing our culture and values to friends. Since I was a kid, my neighbors would come through, try our food, set off fireworks, and chase away evil spirits."
