This installation by UNStudio just outside of the Xintiandi shopping center in Shanghai is twisted and reflective. It snakes past people on the sidewalk, and contains mirrors at either end.
According to the co-founder of UNStudio, "the installation is related to the culture of consuming, not with respect only to shopping, but to consuming images: images of our surroundings, of our city, of the buildings and the people around us and, of course, of ourselves." Considering the installation is made up of twisted metal and other materials, perhaps is also stating the slightly skewed image we can have of us and those that we come in contact with. Whatever the message, the installation at Xintiandi stands out and makes one reflect on their day to day business while walking throughout Shanghai. Photo Credits: designboom, unstudio
