Ateneo Used 3D Tech to Form Sculptural Walls Around Wuyuanwan Station

Chinese architecture studio Ateneo explores 3D technology to create the new dynamic paneling around the Wuyuanwan subway station in Xiamen, China. The team creates undulating walls with a sculptural and artful look using red brick. This material was chosen to reflect the traditional village homes in the Fujian region where the station is.

Lead architect at the studio Jianhua Sun explains, "The core concept is to revive the disappearing traditional architecture in a new way in the urban area. Many red brick Cuo (traditional village houses south of Fujian province in China) have been erased in the urban development, and there is no memory of it." This functions as the entrance which appears to be emerging from the ground and complete with curved corners.
