Dutch physical therapist and inventor Thijs van der Hilst is the creator of the world's most expensive pillow which is priced at $57,000. The pillow comes with luxury touches like four diamonds and a 22.5-carat sapphire on its zipper and a Louis Vuitton case. However, it's also designed to give the person using it a perfect's night sleep. First, the sleeper's body is scanned using a portable 3D scanner. That data is combined with a proprietary algorithm and fed to a machine which cuts a custom pillow form non-toxic Dutch memory foam.
The result is a custom pillow designed specifically for the purchaser. As for the world's most expensive pillow, well it was designed in the same way but seems to be more of a marketing stunt than anything else. It will be on display at the INDEX Design Series in Dubai next month.
