When people think of witches, they probably imagine pointy hats, black dresses, green skin and large warts, but the Women of Power photo series dispels such stereotypes, at least for modern witches. Although the women captured in the series clearly have something up their sleeves, the most a person might assume is that they work at an incense shop.
Focusing on earth worshipping Polish women, which makes up a very small percentage of the population, the Women of Power photo series captures their first public display of power. Shot by photographer Katarzyna Majak, Porter Contemporary writes, "When asked what being a witch meant to one of the subjects in the series, she replied ‘A witch is a woman of knowledge who takes a broom and sweeps to cleanse the world.’"
