Floating Research Centers

The Wolfgang Tschapeller 'Science City' Design Makes a Big Splash

This floating "science city" design by Wolfgang Tschapeller just won a Serbian international competition by literally going over the heads of its competition.

The design is called the Centre for Promotion of Science, and it’s being built to ramp up New Belgrade's science community with a state-of-the-art, futuristic palace of research and development. With less than 65 percent of the actual structure touching the ground, Wolfgang Tschapeller is taking advantage of the unused land below by slating it for bike paths, parks and a feast of other eco alternatives to complement the building's suspended glory.
