Health tech company Withings has officially bought the Berlin-based app 8fit, a personalized fitness and meal planning platform. The new acquisition will see Withings integrate 8fit into its suite of offerings in an effort to improve its own platform's personalization programs and user suggestions.
Interestingly, the purchase of 8fit comes directly on the heels of the company's acquisition of Impeto Medical, a French company that creates devices for monitoring peripheral neuropathies. So far, Withings has already incorporated Impeto's tech into its Smart Scale product. Clearly, the company's current priority is expanding its offerings by collaborating or acquiring smaller health tech startups.
"With the acquisition of 8fit, we are well placed to deliver a strategy that combines elegantly designed health devices, enhanced health data and experienced advice that is simple to adopt and designed specifically for our customers," said Mathieu Letombe, CEO of Withings.
