Never have we been closer to the sunrise, stars or rainbows until the Winter Light Festival in Japan.
Japan has devoted an entire botanical garden into creating a tunnel of lights depicting seductive scenery that one rarely gets to see up close. Popular sites include the snowy plains of Mount Fuji, the rising sun from the mountaintop, tunnels of snowflakes and the Northern Lights.
The festival just opened this week and will remain open until the end of March 2013. For those interested, the festival takes place in the Nabana no Sato garden, which is located on Nagashima Island. Using over seven million LEDs, each bulb inserted into botanical-inspired shades, the Winter Light Festival is definitely a memorable local and tourist attraction.
