Artist Will.i.am and Lexus teamed up with a group of dedicated technicians to create a real-time racetrack version of the video game Rock Band.
The racetrack uses 350 audio-sensitive lasers that move across the track to guide the cars like a real-time virtual map. Each laser is a target-like music note that must be hit in order to produce Will.i.am’s song #thatPOWER. If one music note is missed, the entire song stops and the "game" must re-start.
This elaborate and creative racetrack, video game and music video was designed and filmed in one night. There were three talented drivers who successfully drove around the racetrack in precise synchronization behind the wheels of Lexus’ NX CUVs. Since the video was filmed at night, the lights and lasers added an even more exciting element to the upbeat soundtrack from Will.i.am and Lexus.
