The Wild Rosebuds exhibit by artist Jean-Michel Othoniel is presented at the Perrotin Gallery in New York. The garden of glass showcases colorful mirrored sculptures by the legendary French artist. The exhibition's pieces were inspired by the Kiku - the Japanese word for the chrysanthemum flower.
Each piece is made from individually blown glass spheres, threaded on an unseen metal support. The abstracted flowers appear as if they could float away at any moment. To add a dynamic element, Othoniel colored each sphere with slightly different intensities. Strands of looping saturated oranges and greens are reflected into other parts and orbs within the works. The Wild Rosebuds collection is reminiscent of DNA strands to allude to the theme of infinity.
