Richard Vijgen created a revolutionary new app that allows users to visualize the WiFi signals that envelop us. Although there are various electric signals bouncing off of us at all times, these connections are completely invisible. This device helps users see the overlapping signals that surround us.
The app is called 'Architecture of Radio' and allows users to observe electric signals from WiFi routers, cell towers and even overhead satellites. The app works by using GPS to get a user's exact location and then finding a nearby cell tower that is using OpenCellID. The app then takes this data and produces a visual display of the WiFi signals surrounding the user.
The app provides a new way to observe how the digital world has become a part of our physical space.
