Levi's new Wellthread x Outerknown collection is the label's first-ever attempt at creating a special kind of material that feels as soft as cotton. Hemp is recognized for its sustainable elements as it can produce double or triple the amount of fiber than an entire acre of cotton can.
It also removes harmful chemicals and enriches the soil with oxygen and nitrogen. The hemp used to create the Wellthread x Outerknown capsule is drawn from rain-fed fields, which in the end, uses much less water than cotton would need. In the long term approach, the use of hemp over cotton would aid in fighting the issue of water scarcity. The collection itself features a 70/30 use of cotton and help, which softens the harsher fibers. Notably, all of the designs are recyclable, featuring pocket tees, the 511 slim fit jeans, embroidered jackets, board shorts, and western stitched yoke.
