LEGO-Based Robotics Kits

The 'WeDo 2.0' Robotics Kit Debuted at CES 2016

In an effort to get more elementary school children interested in science, engineering and programming, LEGO is launching the 'WeDo 2.0' robotics kit at CES 2016.

The WeDo 2.0 robotics kit is an updated version of LEGO's original WeDo kit. The set comes with a number of different LEGO bricks, motion and tilt sensors and a Bluetooth Low Energy-based hub. In addition to the toy itself, the kit also comes with WeGo software, which can be used to code different applications that control the robot's hub and sensors. In order to make sure children have access to the program, LEGO is offering a custom curriculum that includes more than 40 hours of lessons. The goal is to use the kit as a fun and creative way to help children develop skills that can translate into future careers in STEM fields.

By capitalizing on a toy that is already popular among elementary school children, the WeDo 2.0 robotics kit provides a creative way to get more children interested in science and technology.
