Vibrating Musical Experiences

This Wearable Pod Lets Artists Play Songs as Vibrations on Your Skin

A student at the Royal College of Art wanted to create a more tangible way to represent the multi-sensory experience music provides by creating a wearable pod that vibrates melodies throughout your skin.

The artist, Marie Tricaud, created small plastic pods that can be attached to skin and vibrate in response to live music. The project embodies the vibrancy and excitement of electronic music and features a bold hexagonal shape with bright colors decorating the pods' perimeter. According to the artist, this piece is less about translating a melody into vibrations, and more about exploring the "long neglected sense of touch." The wearable can be connected anywhere on the body, with each piece offering a different stimuli and intensity level.

The wearable pod offers a brief insight into what the future of wearable technology could hold, and illustrates the deepened relationship people could have with technology.
