Enormous Oceanic Murals

A Collaborative Wave Mural in Seattle Mixes Artists and Volunteers

The massive wave mural on display at the Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park Pavilion is a collaborative art effort that brought together artists and volunteers.

The project was headed by São Paulo artist Sandra Cinto and completed with help from two assistants and 20 local volunteers. The final product is a mind-blowing massive mural of swirls, intricate designs and movement. The large-scale piece is made solely of a painted blue background and silver paint pen. This means the enormous mural was hand painted and it took over two weeks and about 9 hours a day to complete. To fully capture the magnitude of the mural, Cinto placed a wooden boat in front of the mural to symbolize a contrast and the spirit of hope.

The wave mural is a wonderful example a successful collaborative art endeavor joining artists and locals together.
