Polish architecture firm MFRMGR is working on renovating an offshore World War 2-era watchtower and giving it a new lease of life as an eco-friendly water sports center and research hub. The building will make use of renewable sources of energy and sustainable technology to minimize its carbon footprint.
The watchtower is located 2 km in a bay in the Baltic Sea and was originally used to guard a German torpedo plant, but now lies in a state of disrepair.
MFRMGR's architects hope to add a third storey to the two-storey building. The facility will work using electricity harnessed from wind turbines and a solar array. The building will also be equipped with a rainwater collection system, vegetable garden and bird sanctuary.
