'VOLTERRA Global Technologies,' an electric motorcycle manufacturer based in the United States, has enlisted the help of students from the Instituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Turin, Italy, to design a fully electric touring motorcycle. The project took place during the first semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, with 25 transportation design students at IED submitting concepts for a two-wheeled bike concept, knowing it would fall under the VOLTERRA Motors brand.
The winning design was selected for further development and is expected to have a range of over 250 miles, with a modern and sleek appearance and cutting-edge user interface technology. Volterra is committed to developing clean alternatives in the power sports industry while maintaining the range, safety, and riding sensations of traditional gasoline-powered motorcycles. The IED is an international group with 12 campuses in Italy, Spain, and Brazil. It focuses on teaching students to be ahead of the curve through a combination of theory and practice, using design as a universal language for change.
